LIA

Learning at work

Vocational higher education practice. The student works at a company and applies their studies in practice.

APL

Workplace-based learning

Upper secondary vocational programmes. At least 15 weeks at a workplace with assessment linked to the core curriculum.

VFU

Work-integrated education

Academic professional programmes such as teacher, nursing and social work. Requires reflection and tripartite collaboration.

PRAO

Work experience orientation

Mandatory in lower secondary. Gives students in years 8–9 a first encounter with work life and helps them make informed choices.
